So looking at enemy skills in the Raids Preview, I think we can start theorizing what the best approach will be, in fighting throuh the waves to get to the Rancor.
A lot will depend on the speed and HP of Guards and Brutes. If they can be killed before their first turn, I think it would be best to take out adds first, because they both have taunt. Nothing would be worse than spending a lot of damage on the Captain, then losing focus, and adds buff up, are available for Captain's Rally the Guards skill. If they can't be killed before their first turn, and they initially use a skill other than taunt, I think all firepower should be focused on the Captain first, then clean up the mobs.
Typically, I found that clearing mobs before bosses is easier, but we're not sure how this fight will play out. It may not be so typical.
We have to think in terms of survival, having as many characters still standing with as much health as possible in the final encounter again the Rancor. We're obviously meant to die, and just get as many hits and crits in on the Rancor before that happens.
I'll also unleash all skills against waves first, to clear them out faster, rather than save them for Rancor, because of this survivability issue. I think we'll have at least 3 turns of life, against the Rancor, and in that time all skills will have cooled down.
What do y'all think? Any ideas to add?

Tenacity will be essential to resist crippling effects including: stun, health down, expose, healing/buff immunity. Special Damage also increases the Rancor's instant kill ability by one turn. For these reasons, Yoda will be essential to clearing the raid. More info here: swgoh.gg/raids/the-pit/

Instead of all of us just rushing into the raid, the moment it opens, I think just one of us should go in first to test the waters. That person will take note of enemy speeds, health and skill usage and report to everyone what the experience was like, offering tips from what they learned, like what they'd have done differently had they known what it would be like. We'd all be standing by, eagerly awaiting their report, in real-time.
And that person should not be one of our stronger members, because we want our heaviest hitters to be best prepared with this information. Maybe have a few scouts go in before they start their runs.

That's a good point and I hadn't thought of that but it makes so much sense when you think about it.
However, I'm sure detailed info will be data mined and posted on swgoh.gg or reddit as all the data and files will be patched in on Sunday but we won't be able to activate raids until Monday.

That's awesome and we'll study those stats for any advantage we can get. But it will take some technical analysis to try and predict how a battle might play out. Nothing can replace seeing the fight actually unfold and if we use scouts to verify our predictions based on the data, I think we stand a very good chance at beating him, if we keep our sledge hammer teams in reserve for the final phase.
Also, I'm quite curious how the attempts feature will be with this. Do we have any news if it will be like challenges, where we get so many attempts using the same team, perhaps a limited number of paid refreshes like Omega event? Or will it be more like GW where you can basically send in as many 7* teams as you have, with permanent death of a toon?
In either case, if we get to try more than once, T7 might be easier than I thought because I have been assuming worst-case scenario and that we each get just one crack at it, with one team. I have 56 7*s (all max level, either VII, VIII & IX, with minimum skill level 3 across the board) that could probably make it past the Guards and do at least a little bit of damage against him, if it's anything like GW. Or I will pay practically any amount of crystals for extra attempts.

Ok, so this will have a hybrid refresh system. Max attempts (probably 3 or 5), can't use same team twice in a day.
Good to see though that we'll have two days with a reset in there. I think we'll be good on this.

With the guild difficulty stating gear X level 80 required to win does it make sense to go tier 7 day 1.
Do we know if we fail herioc do we still get gear as prizes. If it is an all or nothing deal then failing 7 would put us behind more than finishing 6 if 7 is achievable.

Yeah, I've been wondering that too, but it's only Tier IX characters not X, and i think most of us have full teams of those. If it's an all or nothing award, we should wait and see what bigger guilds report on reddit and forums, which we should start seeing right around the time we're first able to unlock.

I keep forgetting we're gaining some members that don't use official game forums. If you're coming from game forums and read this already, I apologize. Just ignore what I wrote there, copied below:

I was kind of hoping they would make everyone climb the ladder and do each one, unlocking the next one as they progress up the ladder to the top tier raid.

Yeah, still not certain on how it will work exactly. How much currency is required to open a raid and whatnot. They did say it will be done on an individual basis by each guild member, that you have to earn guild currency and the leader can use the currency to unlock the raid, and the highest tier has a time limit.
Looks like there are 4 phases. The first phase you will have to kill the Gammorean Captain. The rancor has 3 phases and there is mention of a door device that will knock the rancor down and buff your team. It's probably a fight where you have to drive the rancor back to the door by doing damage and then time the door to drop on it. It gives you a round or two to hit it while it is down, then it gets back up, and you have to repeat. Three phases of rancor, and three door drops, the last one kills him.

Sounds fun. Where did you find that info?

Link in Cension's first post in this thread. "Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately three thousand seven hundred and twenty to one!" Sorry, I couldn't resist, since Cension changed the subtitle of this Strategy section on the Home page.
