I imagine others have had the same thought, but figured I'd put it in writing on here.
We started a new Tier VI today, and we are close to finishing phase 1. If we get through phase 1 without everyone expending all 5 tries, it would be beneficial if everyone saved a C or D team (dps heavy) to use on the Rancor in phase 2. If we had all had 1 battle apiece (ideally more), everyone can blow the switch and put some DPS into the Rancor with their final battle. Come refresh tomorrow the switch will be ready to use again in battle #1.
I think this would help us get further on the first day rather than having many of us expend all 5 battles and not having 1 free battle in phase 2 to use the switch on Rancor.

Agreed. Everyone should commit one good battle to the Captain, and hold off on doing more until Phase II opens up. If everyone does reasonably well, we'll have those four attempts at Rancor. If someone is sandbagging, not putting in that expected battle, we'll know it!
If you have a strong Ewok team as seen in the video (or another specialty team that does as well) and can manage to do ten times the damage of anyone else in Phase I, everyone will love you for it!
Just make sure you don't waste unused attempts at character refresh, waiting for everyone to participate.
Edit: Let's take this plan a step further and say, if your schedule permits, hit each phase just once, give everyone a chance at the door jam. We are losing a lot of damage for phases II and III if a handful of our players miss out on that big bonus, because we cleared a phase too quickly. Like now, we're almost done with phase II, after opening this raid just ten hours ago and only 43/50 have participated at all yet. Let those other 7 have a shot at the door jam, before proceeding to the next phase, unless character reset is imminent.
Save extra attempts, per phase, for as late in the day as possible so we as a guild gain most overall damage per phase. If everyone has this opportuniy, we might get half-way through Stage III before the first reset.

And another thing, this is how we will HAVE to do it, whenever we are ready to try T7. We need every player doing every point of damage they possibly can, since there will be no reset. Might as well make it habit now, get into the routine of hit and wait, hit and wait. Most importanly, at T7 every player will have to be available for each phase to make all this happen for all four stages, within 48 hours. We cannot afford to have a single player miss any door jam.
And escaping every opportunity you get will be the best way to stretch our rosters' longevity as much as possible. I didn't even know there would be an escape option when I first predicted that T7 would be damn near impossible for the first few months. But if we all continue to develop our teams, master our techniques, follow the plan outlined above, escape whenever available, retreat when RNG goes badly, I could see us doing T7s a little earlier than I'd thought. Maybe 1-2 months instead of the 2-3, at best, I thought before.

Have we had confirmaation that the door jam resets between phases without a character reset between?
Also I have been misreading the heroic raid rules. I thought there was a character reset in between the two days so didn't quite understand why people thought it was so far away.
I like the concept though, everyone get 1 attack on the captain with their debuff team, then an attack on the door.

Yes, I can confirm there is a door jam reset between phases. I tested that yesterday, with back-to-back runs, going from phase II to phase III. I'd also like to confirm if door jam resets when characters do, for the same phase. I doubt that will matter much for T7 since there are no character resets, but who knows, maybe it will at the 24 hour mark. If so, that will help a lot too.
